“I left the sky in the middle of the night
I hit the deck and I’m ready to fight.
Colt .45 and Kabar by my side
These are the tools that make men die.”

With the recent political debates raging and ‘gun control’ once again front and center of the Democrat candidate’s platforms, I felt it was appropriate to update and republish for 2020. This post is not a position on gun control rather it is intended give some insight into a side of the issue few outside of specialized jobs probably recognize or acknowledge. That of the human weapon. (more…)

If you are interested in shooting and want to learn from one of the best, please read .308 Carbine Training from Joe Chamblin and consider subscribing to Tactics and Preparedness Magazine.
For those unfamiliar with Joe, he is a former Marine Sniper and Marine Sniper instructor who has served multiple combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. He is also the author of Into Infamy: a Marine Sniper’s War. Great article from a great Sniper and fine man.

Recently, professional football player Colin Kaepernick made a political statement by refusing to stand for the National Anthem. Former (I know..you are never a “former Marine”) Marine Sgt. (Recon Marine, and Scout/Sniper) Travis Cox recorded a video explaining to Mr. Kaepernick challenging him to ‘do more’ than just ‘sit’. I agree with Travis and want to add that respect is fundamentally different than ‘pride’. I believe that Kaepernick’s actions were simply disrespectful. Please share.

Please consider helping. Jessie Fletcher is a Scout/Sniper who serve with 1st Battalion, 6th Marines (1/6 for most of us) and was wounded in Iraq when an IED exploded. (he is no longer on active duty but you are always a Marine). He lost both legs above the knee and he and he is in need of a Wheelchair accessible home. Jessie spent over a year at Walter Reed National Medical Center recovering from his wounds. If you are moved to donate, please consider donating to the cause OR (if you don’t want to donate) you can buy some badass Bravelets for yourself or your loved ones! $10 from every purchase goes to Jessie’s cause. These are cool! This man sacrificed a LOT for us…let’s give a bit back in return!…Even if you can’t donate, let’s help this HOG (affectionate term for Marine Scout/Snipers) get his house by spreading the word. Many brave warriors have sacrificed for us…the least we can do is try to give a little back when they return.

It is both a sad day for the Marine Corps but an important day. The Marine Times just posted a story stating that “Sgt. Maj. Kenneth Lovell III was removed from his post as the infantry battalion’s sergeant major on Monday due to a loss of confidence, said 1st Lt. Luke Kuper, a spokesman for III Marine Expeditionary Force.” His claims were first reported on this blog and subsequently investigated by the USMC. While it is always sad when a distinguished Marine’s career is destroyed, it is an important step for the US Military to take Stolen Valor seriously . In addition to having falsely claimed a 3rd Combat Action Ribbon and Sniper School Honor Graduate, the USMC also corrected Lovell’s claims of service in Kosovo and with the Israeli Defense Force.
